What's in the Studio Window?
Five pieces from my new "Talishand" series are in the studio window right now. Talishand, a wordplay on talisman and hand, might be a brand-new word of my invention. Or, at least it didn't come up on a Google search!
Each Talishand piece is like a little poem - free-form, spontaneous and meditative. I begin with the hand mold, placing an "ascending" symbol on the longest finger, the middle one. Then I create a grounding symbol for the base of the hand.
I love these little pieces, which I find so meaningful to make. Priced $150, they hang on the wall and they are about 7"-8" tall, depending on the symbol. I'm looking forward to making some with skulls and marigold colors in October!
