Frequently Asked Questions

Is this similar to the former “Looking at Art” classes?

Good question! Inside Houston Art definitely takes some inspiration from the previous “Looking at Art” classes. I enjoyed L@A a great deal, first as a regular attendee in the early 2000s. As I furthered my career as an artist in the 2010s, I was honored to host L@A classes in my house and home studio several times. L@A, and later Looking at OUR Art, provided a very valuable connection between art-lovers and art-makers. I would love to continue that legacy in my own way with Inside Houston Art.

Will Inside Houston Art continue beyond the Spring ‘26 schedule?

Yes! The Fall ‘26 series is already in the planning stage! Look for a new four-week series to be announced in late summer of ‘26!

What is your vision for Inside Houston Art?

The “Inside” part is key here. I want to open doors to private collections, artist studios and other spaces that are a bit off the beaten path, to provide myself and everyone else with a deeper look into how art is made, collected and appreciated. While we might visit a commercial gallery or a formal institutional space here and there, the selections will be influenced by my own fascination with the undiscovered and the offbeat. I want to take viewers inside spaces they won’t normally have access to, where we can have meaningful conversations with artists, curators and collectors.

What are some of the “fine print” details?

It’s always good to know about these. Whereas Inside Houston Art is a side hustle, I’m trying to keep it fairly informal and (hopefully) easy for now. A few things to know….

  • The series are limited to about 20 attendees. I don’t have a fancy registration form. Just email me from my Contact page and I’ll get back to you to confirm your spot(s).

  • The cost is $150 for the 4 sessions. Payment forms accepted include Zelle (preferred), check or cash. Cash can be paid at the first meeting. No envelope is required by exact change is greatly appreciated.
