“Kiln Gods” is a collection of 27 imaginary deities inspired by the ancient tradition of creating and honoring kiln gods as guardians of the ceramic firing process. Roughly hand-sized, these wall-mounted pieces have recurring imagery including flames, wood (fuel), and kiln elements such as posts, cones and plugs.

“Kiln Gods” will be part of the “Off the Box” ceramic exhibition at Glassell Studio School in Houston, from Aug. 23 through Sept. 28, with the reception on Friday, Sept. 5, from 6-8 p.m.
